Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming casting process. The team strives to lead with respect, kindness, and generosity. In regard to the character descriptions – they outline the characters as described in the script and in consultation with the creative team. They do not aim to be all-encompassing representations of who might fill these roles. We aim for an expansive and deliberate casting process. We acknowledge that the characters in the script are traditionally presented as either male or female (using he/him or she/her pronouns). We warmly welcome submissions from individuals who identify as gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, or non-binary for the roles that resonate most with their identity.

Character Breakdown
All Audition Material Can Be Found HERE
Audition Preparation: Please prepare the material for the character(s) you are most interested. For the roles of FLUKE and BROTHER JAY there is no pre-assigned audition material. If interested in those roles, submit a Drummer Reel (FLUKE) or a Upright Bass Reel (BROTHER JAY). Submissions must be received through the AIRTABLE FORM.
JERRY LEE LEWIS (Male/Masc, 20s, White) - rock ‘n’ roll’s legendary piano prodigy and celebrated Last Man Standing. Stardom and success can’t come fast enough for him. Explosive energy (THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST)
CARL PERKINS (Male/Masc, 20s, White) - lead guitar player, singer, the originator of one of the first rock ‘n’ roll hits, “Blue Suede Shoes.” Struggling under the pressure of that first hit and feeling like his career is already passing him by. Compensates for this with a swagger and intensity. Plays expert lead electric guitar.
JOHNNY CASH (Male/Masc, 20s, White) - singer, guitar player, a giant of American music at the dawn of his epic career. Projects a stalwart sensibility but inside is questioning the tension between his words, his faith and his actions. Dryly funny. Plays acoustic guitar. (THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST)
DYANNE (Female/Femme, 20s, Open to all Races and Ethnicities) - an aspiring singer, and Elvis’ girlfriend. Smart, confident and cool - able to effortlessly hold her own in a room full of rockstars. Plays Ukelele and if possible a little piano. Wide vocal range.
ELVIS PRESLEY (Male/Masc, 20s, White) - the king of rock ‘n’ roll, early enough in his career that he’s only now beginning to see the pitfalls and pressure of life at the top. Struggling with holding onto his root. Deeply insecure on the inside but masks it. Plays acoustic and electric guitar.
BROTHER JAY (Male/Masc, 20s, White) - bass player, brother of Carl Perkins.
FLUKE (Male/Masc, 20/30s, Open to all Races and Ethnicities) - drummer.
SAM PHILLIPS (Male/Masc, 30s+, Open to all Races and Ethnicities) - the Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll and founder of Sun Records; discovered JLL, Elvis, Cash, Perkins, and many others, including Roy Orbison and B.B. King. A towering and charismatic figure in American music and father figure to the quartet. Even through success he’s always the underdog to the big labels and carries a chip on his shoulder about it.
*Seeking Actor/Musicians for all roles excluding Dyanne and Sam Phillips. If Dyanne can play an instrument that would be great but is not a requierment.
*All roles will be understudied.
