CASTING FAQ’s

What is Airtable?

Airtable is a cloud database we use to store and organize all the artists who audition for us.

Does Marriott Theatre hire non-union performers?

Yes, Marriott Theatre hires various types of performers, regardless of union affiliation.

Are there open calls?

Yes, we hold open calls at least twice a year at the Chicago Actors Equity Building. That information can be found on our website or on the AEA portal, when auditions are announced.

Do you hire youth performers?

Yes! Some productions call for you youth performers. To see if a production requires youth performers please read the character breakdown found on the audition notice.

What should I prepare for my audition?

Audition requirements are listed within the audition notice. These change from show to show, so we ask that you check the audition notice before preparing for your audition.

Will I need to do any follow-up?

A representative from the Marriott Theatre casting team will contact you if we want to see you at a future audition. Due to the volume of artists we will see, we kindly ask that auditionees not request feedback or follow-up. Instructions about callbacks will be sent to the appropriate people when necessary. We ask that you not share this information publicly, as invites to callbacks are only by invitation.

How will I know if I have an audition invite or callback?

A representative from the Marriott Theatre casting team will email you an invite for the callback. NOT ALL ACTORS/PERFORMERS FROM OPEN CALLS WILL RECEIVE A CALLBACK INVITATION.

YOUNG PERFORMER HEADSHOTS AND RESUMES

Because so many parents are interested in having their young performers audition, we will explain what should be included in a picture and resume:

The picture does not need to be professional. Any recent picture, preferably 8 x 10, is acceptable. Keeping this picture up-to-date with us is critical, as it is important that we see what they look like now, and not several years ago.

The resume should include the following information:

  • Name
  • Age
  • All experience with acting
  • All experience with singing
  • Any special awards or recommendations
  • Parent names and contact information

A sample resume is included here to give you an idea of how you might format a resume.

If unable to email, we will accept hard copies. Please address your submission to:
