I’m Dreaming of a “White Christmas”
Marriott Theatre’s production of “White Christmas”, the musical based on the classic film, is absolutely spellbinding. From the moment you walk into the theater, you are surrounded by the beauty of the holiday season. The theater is transformed into a cozy red barn adorned with pretty wreaths. The costumes are exceptionally stunning, period appropriate and elegant.
For fans of the movie, the “Sisters” numbers are fabulous, especially the hilarious male version with the iconic blue feather fans. The entire cast is stellar; in the four leading roles are the very talented Ben Mayne and Tyler Johnson-Campion as the ever-popular duo Wallace and Davis, respectively, and those sisters Betty (Jacquelyne Jones) and Judy (Kelly Felthous), both splendid. The general is brought to life charmingly by Rom Barkhordar, who delivers a very believable characterization. Robin R. McGee’s Martha and Cynthia F. Carter’s Tessie are wonderfully portrayed by two very lovely ladies. Michael Kingston, as Zeke, has impeccable comic timing – his performance is delightful. The young, accomplished Meena Sood does a realistic and delightful turn as granddaughter Susan, who is characterized Thursday evenings by the talented Olivia Grace O’Sullivan.
I especially enjoyed the tap dance number “I Love a Piano”, done on said instrument by the principals, featuring adorable outfits in black and white with appropriate striping. This magnificent musical is a perfect addition to anyone’s holiday season. So to make sure you have a “White Christmas”, get to Marriott Theatre before December 29th
