'Pinkalicious' Review: Delights Children with Magic of Live Theatre
Can you really eat too many pink cupcakes? Find out as PINKALICIOUS goes on her own special journey of discovery to find her true colors with the help of her loving family. This musical adaptation of the popular children’s book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann is now playing at The Marriott Theatre for Young Audiences through August 19, 2018.
When she goes overboard with too many pink-iced cupcakes, PINKALICIOUS ends up at the doctor’s office who diagnoses her with Pinkititis. But when her pink dreams go too far, she must figure out a way to get out of this pink-dicament. Filled with a series of adventures and memorable life lessons, (like the importance of eating green vegetables), this whimsical tale is directed and choreographed by Amanda Tanguay. The grown-ups learn their own life lessons as well.
Starring in PINKALICIOUS is a cast of Chicagoland all-stars, including Landree Fleming as Pinkalicious, Lillian Castillo as Mrs. Pinkerton, Wade Elkins as Peter, Adam LaSalle as Mr. Pinkerton, and Allison Sill as Allison and Dr. Wink.
Set and properties design is by Rachel Rauscher, costume design by Jesus Perez, lighting design by Nick Belley and Aaron Lorenz, and sound design by Robert E. Gilmartin.
This hour-long performance is an ideal way to introduce youngsters to the joy of live theatre. The question and answer period after the play with the cast gives children a chance to engage the actors with their questions.
