'Singin' in the Rain' Brings a Splash of Popular Songs at the Marriott Theatre

Here's a show that practically guarantees you'll leave the theatre singing. Add in an amazing performance of tap dancing by the entire cast and crew and the show's got in all - singing, dancing, romance and glamour.

Song after song with score by Nacio Herb Brown and lyrics by Arthur Freed celebrate the genre of the classic American musical. Based on the book by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the plot showcases what happens behind the scenes when sound revolutionizes the movie industry and goes from silent movies to the "talkies" in the 1920s.

The original 1952 film starred Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor and has stood the test of time for musical lovers everywhere. The Marriott's cast of Danny Gardner as "Don Lockwood," Mary Michael Patterson as "Kathy Seldon" and Richard Riaz Yoder as "Cosmo Brown" is a triple threat of vocals, high energy hoofers and comedic acting. Danny Gardner is charming as Don, Patterson's beautiful voice carries the show and the multi-talented Yoder is pure dynamite. Mention must be made of Alexandra Palkovic who wowed the audience in the Marriott's most recent production of "How to Succeed in Business." As Lina Lamont, she is hysterical.

But it's the music that's the star, delighting audiences with such favorites as "Make 'Em Laugh," "Broadway Melody, "You Were Meant for Me", "You Are My Lucky Star" and "Good Morning."

The show is directed by William Brown with musical direction by Ryan T. Nelson and outstanding choreography by four-time Jefferson award winner Tammy Mader who put their own mark on this happy and hilarious production. The awesome tap dancing, choreography and real rain make this one of the best loved shows at the Marriott Theatre. Don't miss it!
